Cyclonic storm Asna weakens into deep depression near Oman coast

The cyclonic storm Asna, which moved further southwest over the past 12 hours, has weakened into a deep depression, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in its last advisory of the cyclone on Sunday. It is currently located at approximately 22.0°N latitude and 61.2°E longitude, about 320 km northeast of Masirah Island, Oman, 340 km east-southeast of Muscat, Oman, and 370 km south of Gwadar, Pakistan. The system is expected to continue moving southwestwards and is likely to weaken further into a depression by late night or early morning on September 2. Sea conditions are expected to remain rough to very rough, with squally winds of 40-50 km/h, gusting up to 60 km/h, persisting until tonight. Fishermen in Balochistan have been advised to avoid venturing into the open sea until tomorrow due to the hazardous conditions.
