Fire in building near Karachi's Jodia Bazaar brought under control: police

A fire that broke out in a building near Jodia Bazaar, close to Karachi's Saddar area on Tuesday, was brought under control, according to the police. A statement from the Sindh Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the department's Central Command and Control received a report and immediately dispatched fire and rescue teams to the site, along with an ambulance and a fire brigade truck. A statement from City Senior Superintendent of Police Arif Aziz said the fire was brought under control through timely action. "The fire broke out in a stationery and garment warehouse. The warehouse is located on the third floor of a three-storey building," the SSP said, adding that nearby shops were immediately closed and no casualties from the fire were reported. Karachi has been grappling with a series of fire incidents, with back-to-back blazes reported at Gul Plaza, Electronics Market, and the Landhi Industrial Processing Zone. Last month's Gul Plaza fire claimed 79 lives, while several others were reported missing. After the rescue operation, the plaza was sealed by the authorities.
